Can I make your brain hurt a little bit? lol
Have you ever really thought of the purpose of working a job?
Some people love their job because they love the tasks they perform and how it helps whoever it helps.
Some people love their job just because they’re grateful for the money it provides for them and their family.
Some people think the only purpose of a job is to make your boss rich.
Some people go in the deep end and say the job perpetuates a broken system and none of us will ever be free.
There are a lot of perspectives on this, so I thought I’d share mine (which I want to say is a pretty reasonable point of view – hopefully lol).
In order to understand the purpose of a job, I think you have to understand the purpose of life.
If I were to take almost everything I know of decades of bible study and had to narrow the purpose of life down to ONE action…
…The purpose of life is to Serve.
Or to be of service to others.
Now, keeping that in mind, what is the real point to having a job?
To Serve your fellow man.
There are 2 ways to do this with ANY job.
1. The job itself obviously serves SOMEONE.
2. The money you make with the job can be a powerful tool to serve more and more people.
So, if the purpose of life and, therefore, a job is to serve…
…Where does trading come into play?
Trading is the ULTIMATE service-oriented job.
There are many of our members who teach their kids to trade, providing a huge service for generations to come.
Trading frees up time, which can be used to pursue virtually ANY act of service you wish to provide to people.
That could be organizing a not-for-profit.
That could be for starting another business that provides a service.
That could be as simple as volunteering or promoting for causes you believe in.
The sky is actually the limit.
And then, of course, is the money side of service.
Trading gives people the opportunity to have more money than they’ve ever had before.
Money they can use to help people.
That’s the kind of person I want in our community.
And yes, we literally have turned people down because our values really didn’t align.
