You can always make more money. What you can’t do is rewatch your kid’s birthday in real time.

There are moments in life that gut-punch you into action.

For me, it was standing in the corner of a dimly lit conference room, glued to my phone screen, watching a blurry FaceTime of my kid blowing out birthday candles without me.

Everyone around me was toasting the end of another “successful” quarterly meeting.

Meanwhile, all I could think was:

“What the heck am I doing here?”

I had a good job on paper – engineering salary, benefits, and all the corporate perks they use to keep you from quitting.

But in exchange I spent 60 hours a week in the office, my life mostly consisting of spreadsheets, Slack messages, and daily Zoom calls where progress went to die.

I was missing my kids growing up.

And for what? A paycheck that barely kept up with inflation?

My kid forgave me for missing her birthday…because that’s what kids do.

But I couldn’t forgive myself.

That night staring at the ceiling, I made a decision.

I wasn’t going to build someone else’s dream while my own family lived without me.

That decision is what ultimately led me to trading.

Not the gambling kind.

Not the “glued to a screen for 12 hours” kind.

The kind where you follow a proven strategy for 1-2 hours a day, 3-5 days a week, for a $10K/month minimum exit plan.

Was it easy? No.

Was it worth it?

More than I can say.

Because now when it’s my kid’s birthday…I’m right there with her at home celebrating.
