Why do we work jobs?

Sounds like a simple-enough question.

The answer (of course) is to support our families financially.

I used to talk about how working 60-80 hour weeks was all for my family.

1️⃣ I did it to make sure they had good, healthy food.

2️⃣ I did it so my kids would have choices in life, like what sport to compete in or what musical instrument to play.

3️⃣ I did it so my spouse could feel proud to invite company over and host gatherings at our home.

Those are all noble pursuits, but they were missing a key ingredient…

…Fatherhood.

My kids could benefit from seeing their father work so hard for his family.

But working too much completely negates the real purpose every parent has:

To teach their kids and prepare them for life.

Not just to survive, but to make a positive impact during their lives.

If I’m spending 60-80 hours a week away from them, that’s vital time away from my real purpose as a father –

Which is MUCH more than just providing financially.

So, how can someone support their family WHILE not negating them in the same motion?
